                               CATALONIA

Catalonia is an autonomous community of Spain, and consist of four provinces: Barcelona, Tarragona, Girona and Lleida. Barcelona is the capital and the largest city in Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain after Madrid. Also is the center of the one largest metropolitan city in Europe. Catalonia is between France (to the North) and the Mediterranean see (to the East). The official languages are Catalan and Spanish (Also Aranès in a little section at the north).

The Catalan cuisine is extensive and based in a great culinary health. The most common and popular food in Catalonia is bread with tomato and olive oil with difference rind of raw sausage, allioli is a sauce made of garlic, olive oil and usually eggs, and catalan cream i for dessert. They produce a lot of different wine and cava (catalan champagne).

Catalonia have a lot of holidays and special traditions and festivities. Human Towers are one of the main manifestation of catalan popular culture. Human Towers called "Castells" consist to construct a tower climbing the people to arrived at the top. 

One of the most important festivity in Catalonia is St George's Day. This day is traditional to give a rose and a book to a person you love. This day is celebrated every April 23th in all towns in Catalonia and is special for the couples because the men give women a roses, and women give men a book to celebrate the day like on Valentine's Day.
